What we collect

Account data: your email address and, once verified, your phone number. Phone verification exists to prevent abuse.

Location data: the coordinates you report, and a recent device position used only to verify you are within 500 metres of that report. Device positions are kept briefly and are never published.

Content: the description and any photo or video you attach to a report.

Device data: an app installation identifier, platform, app version and, if you enable notifications, a push token.

How we use it

To show community reports on a public map for 24 hours.

To verify report and confirmation eligibility server-side.

To send the alerts you have enabled, for your current area or your saved places.

To detect abuse, spoofed locations and coordinated manipulation.

What is public

Incident location, category, description, sanitized media, age, confirmation counts and an anonymous trust level.

Never public: your name, email, phone number, social login identity, internal account id, device identifiers, saved places, or the device coordinates used to check eligibility.

Media handling

Uploads are quarantined and processed before anything becomes visible. We strip EXIF and GPS metadata, re-encode the file, generate a thumbnail and run automated checks. We never rely on the app alone to remove metadata.

Retention

Reports leave the public map after 24 hours. Device location samples used for eligibility and alerts are retained briefly and then deleted. Moderation and audit records are retained as long as needed for safety and legal obligations.

Your choices

You can turn notifications and background location off at any time in the app or in system settings.

You can delete your account from Profile → Delete account. This anonymizes your personal data and signs you out everywhere.

Children

Redice is intended for people aged 18 and over.
